From the Ground Up: Notes from the Director of B&G

In my new role as Director of Buildings and Grounds for both St. Mary and St. Anthony parishes, I thought it might be helpful if I share a brief update each month on the work being done across our campuses. These notes will highlight current and upcoming projects, as well as offer a behind-the-scenes look at the many areas involved in caring for our buildings and grounds.

Facility management in a parish setting is far more than routine maintenance. It includes the responsibility of our worship spaces, classrooms, offices, and gathering areas, as well as the ongoing care of mechanical systems, safety needs, seasonal upkeep, and long-term planning for repairs and improvements. It also involves responding to the day-to-day needs that arise so that our spaces remain welcoming, safe, and ready for ministry.

My hope is that this column will help provide greater awareness of the work being done, the priorities being addressed, and the resources required to maintain our parish environment. Much of this work happens quietly and behind the scenes, but it directly supports every aspect of parish life—from liturgy and faith formation to events, education, and community gatherings.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers as we care for the spaces entrusted to us.
