St. Anthony Parish Projects
Stained Glass Window Project
With grateful hearts and deep appreciation for the generosity of our parish family, we are pleased to share an update about how work is progressing on the new church stained glass windows project.
The stained glass project is one of three major building improvements included in our parish’s Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s Love One Another Campaign commitment, along with necessary heating system upgrades and renovations to the rectory bathrooms.
Thanks to your pledges and a generous gift from a parish family, the project is completely paid for.
Many will recall that the stained glass windows were part of the original church renovation plans but were prayerfully placed on hold due to limited funds. In the meantime, several windows have remained covered by scrims to deflect the light. Hopefully, the windows will be installed in early summer.
The Design
Designed and created by Conrad Schmitt Studios, the windows will feature four 7-foot figures flanking the cross. Under the guidance of the Pastoral Council, it was decided that the four Gospel writers St. Matthew and St. Mark will appear on one side, with St. Luke and St. John on the other. Each Gospel writer will be depicted with his traditional symbol from the Book of Daniel — a winged man, winged lion, eagle, and winged ox, respectively — reflecting the biblical vision.
The Process
The images to the right show the progression of St. Luke’s stained glass window, offering insight into the artists’ process. The artists first created a watercolor rendering and then a life-size charcoal sketch. After making a pattern, the glass is cut. Next steps include assembly and detail work.
