2025 Easter Vigil at St. Anthony

Join (or Explore) the Christian Faith

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

OCIA (formerly the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA) is primarily for those who wish to join the Catholic Church. However, whether you’re seeking to become Catholic or simply curious about what Catholics believe, OCIA sessions are open to everyone, regardless of background or prior faith experience.

Our OCIA program is designed for:

  • Unbaptized adults/teens—Christian or not—wishing to join the Catholic Church (these are called “Catechumens”).
  • Baptized adults/teens from another Christian tradition who wish to become Catholic (these are called “Candidates”).
  • Baptized Catholic adults who were never fully initiated and are returning to the Church (those seeking Confirmation and First Eucharist).
  • Anyone—Catholic or not—who simply wants to learn more about the Catholic faith, its teachings, and its community. Just like auditing a college course!*

*We ask that all “auditors” reserve their questions/comments for private discussions or email correspondence with the teachers (who are called “Catechists”). This is a time reserved for Catechumens and Candidates to ask questions while they are preparing to embrace the Catholic faith

Our OCIA sessions offer a supportive environment to explore Catholic beliefs, prayer, and community life in the parish. Sessions typically begin in the fall and continue through Easter. However, the journey to reception into the Church is unique to each individual. Whether you’re ready to join the Church or just want to learn, we invite you to come and discover the beauty of the Catholic faith with us!
